British / American Flag - International Relationship

When you are asking for permission, would you say ‘May I go to restroom, teacher?’ or “May I go to loo, teacher?”. Did you notice quotation marks? (Double or single)

What if you are snared linguistically? At times, you can’t even figure out which spellings and vocabularies are you going to use.
